God? I Could Care Less...

It was a beautiful Memorial Day weekend and I didn't have a care in the world. Some friends and I were in Panama City, Florida goofing off at the beach for a Jimmy's Storywhile when we decided to run down and dive into the cold water. As I plunged head first, instantly, my life was changed forever.

After striking my head on the ocean floor, my body started to tingle then slowly became numb.  All I could do was hold my breath as my limp body floated on the surface of the water. An absolute sense of terror engulfed me as I realized I could not move my arms or legs to lift myself out of the water to take a desperately needed breath of air. Suddenly, a friend who thought I was joking, rolled me over and realized something very serious had happened and pulled me to the safety of the shore.

I am now a quadriplegic  paralyzed from the chest down with limited use of my arms and hands.

After returning home from rehab I began reading books in an attempt to alleviate boredom.  Out of curiosity, I picked up a Bible, not realizing what a marvelous transformation God's Word would have on my life.  I had not grown up in a religious home. However, as I read the Bible the truth about "Jesus" became very clear to me.  Jesus was God who became a man, sinless and Jimmy Storm after his accidentblameless, yet He willingly endured the excruciating pain and humiliation of crucifixion to take our place in punishment.  He died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day to prove that he is the Messiah and that He had conquered death.  He paid the price in full. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one has any right, much less the ability, to come to the Father but through Jesus Christ our King.  That day I confessed my sins and asked God to forgive me and come into my heart and save me.  Now I  know I am a born-again child of God on my way to Heaven.

If I had died the day of my injury, not only would I have died physically, but as a result of my sin I would have spent an eternity in the Lake of Fire in eternal torment.  By God's Grace, he gave me a second chance, and today my salvation is sure.

Jimmy Storm today-- with the light of God shining through.

My friend, understand that you too are drowning in an ocean of sin and Jesus Christ is the only one that can pull you to safety on his shore of salvation.  If your life came to an end today for whatever reason, would you go to heaven or would you spend eternity in hell?  If you've broken any one of the Ten Commandments, like lying or stealing you will not be able to stand on judgment day. But there's good news, "God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."  You too can be assured of your salvation if you confess and repent of (turn from) your sin and believe Jesus died on the cross in your place and that God raised Him from the dead. You will have the benefit of standing on the righteousness of Jesus Christ on the day of judgment.  Please, don't waste any time. 2 Corinthians 6:2 reads, “Behold, now is the  accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

If you put your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior today get a Bible and read it every day and join a Bible believing and teaching church to help you grow in the grace and knowledge of God.  I would also love hearing your testimony.  Contact me through Faith Independent Baptist Church or come  join us for services this week.
